Senior Data Scientist, Clinical Pharmacology & Safety Sciences - Cell Therapy

AstraZeneca is looking for a Data Scientist to join CPSS Cell Therapy group. You will lead bioinformatic research efforts with multi-omic data sets from clinical trials. This position is based in Santa Monica, CA and reports to a Senior Scientist. 

You Will:

  • Develop and implement strategies for integrating multi-omic data sets, including genomics and transcriptomics
  • Use machine learning and AI methodologies from multi-omic data sets and derive actionable insights
  • Develop AI models and algorithms tailored to our specific research needs
  • Communicate technical concepts and results through reports, presentations, and collaborative discussions.
  • Stay current with advancements in data integration, AI, and bioinformatics to improve analytical approaches.
  • Contribute to the development of analytical models of clinical NGS data. 
  • Refine existing tools and develop novel methodologies for analyzing NGS data.  
  • Establish data architecture solutions and bioinformatic analysis pipelines 
  • Work with team members to build code repository and bioinformatic best practices. 
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Document methodology and analytical findings. 

You Have:

  • Eight (8) years of relevant professional or academic experience with a BS/BA, seven (7) years with an MS/MA, or one (1) year with a PhD in data science, computational biology, bioengineering, or a related field.
  • A background in NGS workflows and multi-omic data analysis. 
  • Expertise in bioinformatic and computational biology tools, programming and developing analytical pipelines. 
  • Experience with programming language, Python and R. 
  • Experience with cloud computing and high-performance clusters. 
  • Understanding of basic statistics and applications to biomedical science. 
  • Experience with single cell data analysis 
  • Experience in the field of immune-oncology is a plus 
  • Team-oriented mindset with ability to work independently and collaboratively. 
  • Ability to adjust workload based upon changing priorities. 
  • Willingness to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description. 

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $112,164 to $168,246. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
